A&J Music Association FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
“It's About MORE Than Music....It's About YOU.”
Q1. I'm
interested in music lessons...what do I do? A. The way it works is you call us at 209-507-2702 (any time day or night) and tell us what you’re looking for, then we'll run your request through the database of teachers to find who is available according to your music lessons search criteria. The teacher, or teachers, will then contact you so you may speak to them directly for details like pricing, scheduling, lesson location, and so forth. If no available teachers are found due to rosters being full, you will be put on a waiting list for the next available music teacher to contact you. A. We allow our teachers to dictate their own rates, so the cost depends on who you work with. This setup actually allows you to get better rates as you are given the chance to negotiate rates with each teacher. To find a music teacher right now, call us at 209-507-2702 and one of our representatives will help you.
A. We are a network of music teachers and do not have a singular location. Depending on the music instructor you work with, the location could be at UOP, an office, church campus, home studio, etc. To find a music teacher right now, call us at 209-507-2702 and one of our representatives will help you.
Q4. What
are the available lesson times (schedule)?
A.
We allow our teachers to create their own lesson schedules and work this out
with the individual students directly.
This setup actually allows you to have more flexibility as you and the
teacher work out what schedule works best for the both of you.
Q5.
A. We can’t give out specific teacher information until your request has been entered into the database and we have established teacher availability. This is both to help make the search easier & quicker for you, as well as protect teachers from unwanted calls or emails.
Q6. Can I
get a teacher to drive out to my location? If so, what’s the cost?
A.
Depending on which teacher you end up working with, this may be an option.
The teachers decide for themselves if they are willing & able to travel
out to a student, and they also decide what their travel rates are.
Q7. Why
do you do mainly private lessons (1-on-1 teacher-student) instead of group
sessions? A. This teaching format provides the highest quality training & education. In a 1-on-1 teacher-student setting, you are allowed to progress at your own pace & have lessons catered specifically for your needs & desires. The teacher is not distracted by other students, and can give you his/her complete and undivided attention.
Q8.
What methods/techniques/styles/curriculums/lesson-types/lesson-levels/etc. are
taught? A. That depends on which teacher you end up working with. It could be Suzuki methods, traditional approaches, beginner techniques, advanced techniques, improvisation, jazz, classical, ear-training, etc. Each teacher-student relationship is different & created specifically to fit individual student needs & desires.
A. We’re a local network of music teachers (based in & around Stockton, CA) who operate out of our studios, offices, campuses, schools, churches, and often times our own homes. We exist as a resource for people to use with regard to finding quality professional music teaching services.
Q10. Can I get a list of A & J Music Association teachers so I can contact them directly?
A.
No. In order to make the process
easier and more convenient for you, teachers contact the students once we have
established that the instructor matches your request.
We also have to make sure the teacher has available lesson slots.
If you try to “find teachers” on your own based on a list, you will most
likely waste much of your time speaking to teachers who are unable to work with
you based on things like scheduling.
We also want to protect teachers from unwanted calls or emails.
Q11.
A. It’s setup to give you and the teachers more control & freedom...normally, in an institution or music school, teachers and students are restricted by one set of rules, schedules, and rates. But with our network, you and the teachers work together to figure out what works best for YOU, not a school or institution. You have more control, more freedom, and more flexibility in this setup.
Q12. Is
there someone or a number I can call if I have any more questions? A. You can call us at 209-507-2702 at any time day or night, any day of any week, including holidays. You may also call the available music teachers directly once they get in touch with you after we send your request into the database. If no available teachers are found due to rosters being full, you will be put on a waiting list for the next available music teacher to contact you.
